FAQ'S & PRODUCT INFORMATION
Our DMSO is supplied as a high-purity material manufactured to USP-grade specifications and supported by third-party batch testing. We focus on consistency, careful handling, and premium packaging to ensure customers receive reliable, high-quality DMSO for laboratory, formulation, and technical applications.
Below are answers to the most common questions we receive.
DMSO naturally freezes at about 18.5°C (65°F), which is just below room temperature. This is completely normal and does not affect quality or purity.
In fact, DMSO spends much of its life in a frozen or semi-solid state during storage and shipping, especially in cooler climates.
To liquify:
• Place the container in warm water
• Or leave at room temperature
• Do not microwave
• Do not overheat
Once melted, it returns to its original condition.
The most commonly referenced grades include:
• Excipient Grade – Very high purity material intended for formulation use and may exceed USP specifications in certain parameters (Coming soon)
• USP Grade – Meets United States Pharmacopeia standards for purity and consistency
• Pharmaceutical Grade – Often similar to USP but terminology varies
• Technical / Industrial Grade – Lower purity, typically used for industrial applications only
Most customers choose USP grade for a balance of high purity, consistency, and recognized quality standards.
Most customers choose USP grade because it offers:
• High purity
• Consistency between batches
• Widely recognized quality standard
• Suitable for laboratory, formulation, and technical applications
Lower grades are typically used only for industrial applications.
Pure, high-quality DMSO typically has little to no odour when opened.
However, there are two different types of odor people sometimes refer to:
Odor in the bottle ("on the nose")
• Usually very mild or none with high-purity material
• Can vary slightly by batch
• Does not indicate purity differences
Odor after use (metabolizing)
Some individuals report a garlic or sulfur-like odor after use.
This varies widely and depends on:
• Individual body chemistry
• Diet
• Hydration
• Amount used
• Application area
Everyone metabolizes DMSO differently, so experiences can vary.
Pure DMSO is very stable.
We typically list a Best Before of 3 years, however:
• It does not suddenly expire
• It may only lose slight potency over long periods
• When stored sealed and clean, it can remain usable well beyond the best-before date
Store:
• Tightly sealed
• Clean environment
• Away from contamination
No.
DMSO is not considered flammable under normal handling conditions.
It also has:
• High flash point
• Low vapor pressure
• Stable chemical properties
This makes it easier to ship and store compared to many solvents.
Yes.
We perform third-party batch testing to confirm quality and consistency.
Certificates of Analysis (COA) are available and referenced on our website.
USP stands for United States Pharmacopeia.
USP grade means the material meets strict specifications for:
• Purity
• Identity
• Impurities
• Quality consistency
It is one of the most widely recognized quality standards for chemical materials.
No. Freezing is completely normal and does not affect:
• Purity
• Performance
• Shelf life
DMSO can be frozen and thawed repeatedly without issue.
Both liquid and gel forms contain high-purity DMSO, but they are designed for different preferences and handling styles.
Pure Liquid
• 100% DMSO (no thickening agents)
• Offers maximum flexibility for dilution
• Easily mixed with other compatible materials
• Flows freely for measuring and blending
• Preferred for laboratory and formulation use
Gel
• Engineered gel structure for easier handling
• Thicker consistency helps with controlled application
• Reduces dripping and runoff
• Convenient for direct use
• Maintains stability across a wide temperature range
Both options provide the same high-purity base material — the choice mainly depends on whether you prefer maximum flexibility (liquid) or ease of application (gel).
